A pillar of the Camp Mikell community, John’s life was marked by service, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to those around him. His absence leaves a void in our hearts, but his legacy continues to inspire and unite us.
A Legacy of Dedication and Service
As a third-generation camper, counselor, and summer staff member, John’s connection to Camp Mikell ran deep. Over the years, he expanded his involvement by volunteering with DYC, serving on the Mikell Board of Governors, teaching woodturning at the Allan Folk School, and contributing as a member of the Work Camp dean’s staff. John’s influence touched countless lives, fostering growth, learning, and community wherever he went.
Celebration of Life at Camp Mikell
To honor John’s extraordinary life, a Celebration of Life will be held at Camp Mikell on Saturday, December 7, at 12 p.m. Following the service, there will be a potluck meal to share fellowship and memories. Please bring a side dish or dessert to contribute.
In tribute to John’s love of nature, his family requests attendees to wear blue or green, his favorite colors. Comfortable, camp-friendly attire is encouraged. Attendees are also invited to bring photos of John to share, representing the many facets of his remarkable life.
