Carol Conrad Obituary: We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Dr. Carol Conrad, a brilliant and compassionate leader in pediatric pulmonary medicine. As a Professor of Pediatrics (Pulmonary Medicine) Emerita at Stanford, Dr. Conrad dedicated 29 years of her career to transforming the lives of children with cystic fibrosis (CF) and other respiratory challenges.
Dr. Conrad served as the Medical Director of the Pediatric Lung and Heart-Lung Transplantation Program at Stanford and was a cornerstone of the pediatric CF Center. Her work extended beyond the clinic, as she was a respected researcher whose groundbreaking studies, including her efforts in AAV-CFTR vector gene therapy, were supported by CFRI and advanced the science of CF treatment.
Known for her wit, complexity, and unwavering brilliance, Dr. Conrad was not only a skilled clinician but also a steadfast advocate and guide for countless patients and their families. Her deep empathy and commitment to her patients’ well-being left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
